Report of the Santo Domingo Seminar,
January 15-26, 2003
A seminar led by Jose Reyes and Wim van Dullemen
What happens if a martial arts specialist and a pianist organize
a Movements seminar? You get the perfect mixture, of emotional
subtlety and disciplined directness.
The Santo Domingo seminar is an annual event of the Dominican
group, open to the international community. It happens every
year around the 20th of January and it lasts for nine days.
There were around 70 people from many different countries.
The seminar was centered on group work and included Movements,
morning exercise, Zikr, small-scale group activities, readings
and practical work. The aim of the event was to bring all
participants to a three-centers balanced state, and to establish
a harmonious state within the group. The level of experience
with Movements and the Work varied from none to 35 years.
But in spite of all differences, the daily Sufi exercise of
the Zikr made it clear in everyone’s heart that we are
all one, beggars, who are trying to allow the love of God
to enter our lives.
